It has been a long time since I have read a book like this. I love it, I cuddle with it, I dream of marrying it. Everyone should read this book. Everyone.
Kvothe is a legend among men. In this first book of the trilogy, Kvothe begins to recant his life story to a scribe. It is very well written and keeps you pulled in the entire time. There is never a dull moment.
Wow, what I just wrote sounds lame. But I'm in a lame type of mood today. So this is what you get.

I finished this book a little over two months ago and I'm reminded again of the vow I made to never read a book with sequels that have not yet been released. (George R. R. Martin, I'm looking at you!) The novels by Scott Lynch--The Lies of Locke Lamora and Red Seas Under Red Skies--are tied with The Name of the Wind as my current favorite books, just barely unseating the Fionavar Tapestry by Guy Gavriel Kay. At least the Fionavar Tapestry is complete, though! Much like waiting through summer for your favorite show to return to television, or the years in-between the release of a trilogy (or more) of movies, starting books as great as The Name of the Wind without being able to absorb the entire story in a sitting (or at least consecutively) is almost physically painful for me.
Patrick Rothfuss is a phenomenal writer. If I had one complaint, it's that he didn't tell us how to pronounce Kvothe early enough in the story. That's the kind of thing I need on page 1 or I'm going to be mispronouncing it for the remainder of the book.
Still, it's comforting to know that someone else out there enjoyed the book as much as I did. I'll be keeping an eye out for future recommendations/reviews from you. I'm glad I stumbled over your profile in PMOG months ago.
I read the book and it was AWESOME! I loved it so much.
